YIPA Job Shadow Programme
Since October 2017, the Youth in Property Association (YIPA) has been teaming up with the Western Cape Property Development Forum (WCPDF) to provide underprivileged Grade 11 and 12 learners with the opportunity to shadow individuals in the Cape Town property industry and transform the sector from the youth up. The YIPA Job Shadow Programme is held in collaboration with the UCT 100-UP initiative, a project run by the University of Cape Town which targets school learners from disadvantaged backgrounds to coach them towards university access. The job shadowing partnership with the WCPDF enables YIPA to expose the industry to learners even before they leave high-school, in order to grow skilled labour and create an entrepreneurial pool for this sector. To see what the learners experienced in past programmes please see the information below. Should you wish to participate in an upcoming programme, please contact Kim on admin@wcpdf.org.za.
2020 Programme: March
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, our programme scheduled to host 27 grade 12 learners at 12 host companies from 25 – 26 March was cancelled. The date of our next programme will be announced in due course. The good news, though, is that learners from previous programmes are now progressing well through their tertiary education, having taken on degrees within the built environment. You can read all about it here.
